Skonto Būve has great experience in building and reconstruction of multi-storey residential buildings. The project in Ulbrokas Street 13, Riga, was the largest newly constructed residential housing complex after the Republic of Latvia regained its independence.
Skonto Būve was the general contractor of the project, the company carried out the preparation and maintenance of the site, earthworks, internal finishing works, and material supply for all the parties involved in the project. This is one of the first projects where precast reinforced concrete structures in the façade and monolithic reinforced structures in the building frame combined are used in the buildings of such a height. The use of prefabricated panels for outer walls not only sped up the progress of works, but also reduced the heating and facade maintenance costs. An interesting feature is the rainwater collection - under the green zone and partly under the children's play area is an underground rain water reservoir with a capacity of about 2000 m3, which collects the water during heavy rainfall; it is then pumped into the city water system networks.
According to the client’s needs, within a year from the piling to the full finish, three twelve-storey residential building projects were built and put into operation. However, the relatively short time limit did not compromise the outcome, and the client also remarked on the ability of Skonto Būve to "carry out the works professionally, accurately, quickly and efficiently."
